Dominguez High School
At Dominguez High School we are
determined to prepare students for the rigors of high school life and beyond
through high expectations, a rigorous standards-based curriculum and a
discipline program that nurtures responsibility and challenges students to be
accountable for their actions. The school offers a variety of services
coordinated to meet the diverse academic, language, and social needs of our
Our progress towards preparing students for the challenges of the 21st Century
is promising, as evidenced by our successes last year in the overall positive
change in student attitude toward academics and themselves.
Our mission toward academic excellence will be accomplished when 100% of our
students meet school, state, and federal expectations. We believe there are two
essential elements for student achievement; quality instruction and parental
involvement. Our staff remains focused, committed, and driven to ensure that
students are exposed to engaging and meaningful lessons, high behavioral
expectations, and experiences that lay the foundation for informed
decision-making on future educational, professional, and personal goals.
Parent participation and student academic success are linked. Ongoing efforts
are in place to bridge the communication gap between school and parents. Parents
are welcomed and encouraged to participate in their children’s education in a
variety of ways: volunteering on campus, reviewing school policies with their
children, conferencing with teachers and administrators, sitting in to observe
lessons, attending the various committee/council meetings; School Site Council
(SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), Parent Teacher Association
(PTA), Safety Committee, and by creating systems within their homes that support
their children’s educational experience.
This collaborative effort between school and community will yield the conditions
necessary to prepare our students for the challenges and benefits of today’s
global society. Dominguez administration, faculty, and staff strive to provide a
positive climate in which all students achieve well.
