Welcome to Roosevelt Elementary School
I am very proud, fortunate and excited to be a part of the Roosevelt Elementary
School community. My priority as a principal is to work collaboratively with
staff, parents, and members of the community to improve student achievement in
all core subject areas.
Staff development is a very important in improving the quality of instruction.
Every Wednesday, our teachers meet to learn and develop new strategies that
focus on improving instruction. In order to address our students’ needs, we
collect, review and analyze assessment data to determine their strengths and
weaknesses and to develop an instructional improvement plan.
We are very excited about the academic gains our students have made on the
standardized tests in previous years and will continue to build on their
learning to meet the targeted goals. This has been accomplished through the hard
work of our teachers and staff and with the support of our parents.
Our goals are for the students to master the taught standards; be at the grade
level or above; transition to the next grade level fully prepared with skills
and knowledge; and continue to meet our AYP and API targets.
Roosevelt Elementary School has dynamic teachers who provide quality instruction
in a explicit and systematic way by using standards and research-based
strategies to improve student learning.
I’m excited that our teachers are making an impact on our students as evident in
the standardized testing data listed below:
- AYP: ELA-67.6% and Math-68.5% for 2010-11 school year
- API: 800 scored for 2010-11 school year
- Increased number of “Advanced” and “Proficient” scores
- Reduced number of “Below Basic” and “Far Below Basic” scores
Our AYP and API academic goals for the 2011-12 school year include:
- Meeting our AYP and API targets
- District 900 API Club
- AYP: English Language Arts score of 70% and Math score of 70%
We encourage and appreciate the continued support of all stakeholders.
Principal’s Belief
